The injury that Kieran Tierney suffered playing for Scotland against Switzerland at the Euros could scupper any transfer plans that he and Arsenal had for him this summer.

Tierney got turned in a challenge with Swiss striker Dan Ndoye, stumbling and as he stretched, he appeared to hyper-extend his knee.

Whilst the initial belief was that he had pulled his hamstring, the fact that he was stretchered off the pitch, and the medical diagnosis afterwards indicates that the injury might be much worse.

And any length of time out of the game, may mean Arsenal unable to sell a player who had returned to the Emirates after a year on loan in Spain with Real Sociedad, a spell that had also seen him suffer more than his fair share of injuries.

Playing for Scotland in Germany had been a chance for Tierney to put himself in the shop window, but, instead the opposite is likely to occur. And Arsenal could find themselves stuck with a player that they do not want next season.
