The most expensive transfer ever?

The latest injury setback suffered by Romeo Lavia means that he is in danger of becoming one of the biggest transfer flops of all time.

The 20 year old joined Chelsea from Southampton last summer, who paid ₤58 million for his services, beating off heavy competition for his services.

However, due to a lingering injury and subsequent fitness concerns, he missed the start of the season, and only made his debut for his new club in their win over Crystal Palace in December.

Unfortunately for him, he then picked up a hamstring injury, and he has not played since. And, now he has been ruled out for the rest of the season, after suffering a setback during his latest rehabilitation spell.

It means that, so far, Chelsea have paid out ₤1.8 million for every minute that Lavia has epnt on the pitch, which, in comparative terms, makes him much more expensive than some of their other highly priced acquisitions.
