Arsenal are closing in on the signature of the highly rated Rangers young midfield star, Alexander Smith.
The 15 year old has been on the Gunners’ radar for some time, and he is now expected to make the move to the Emirates, with the Scottish club receiving a six figure sum by way of compensation.
Smith, who holds dual citizenship, played for the USA at under-15 level, before switching his allegiance to Scotland, the country of his birth, graduating to their under – 16 side.
He starred for Rangers in the East Mallorca Cup last April, where he was named Player of the Match four times, including a win over Liverpool.
Arsenal face a busy summer on the recruitment front, with a number of incomings and outgoings expected.
In particular, their recruitment policy is expected to be focused on youth, with Smith just one example of young talent they are tracking.
