Mount transfer saga continues

The protracted transfer battle over Chelsea’s Mason Mount continues.

That is after Manchester United saw a second and improved bid of £50 million for the England midfielder rejected.

That is still some way short of Chelsea’s initial valuation of £75 million for the player, although the London club have since lowered their asking price.

However, any hopes that Mount could yet be persuaded to extend his stay with his boyhood club have been dashed with news that he is no intention of signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

That means that, with the real risk of him walking away fro free at the end of next season, this is the ideal opportunity to get what they can for him.

And it also means that sooner or later a deal is likely to be done, and that by the start of new season, Mount will be a United player.
