Chelsea are hoping that the imminent appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as manager will persuade N’Golo Kanté to stay with the club.
As things stand, he will be a free agent at the end of June, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Although talks over a contract renewal have been dragging on for several months, the French international is yet to put pen to paper.
Despite the 32-year old being increasingly injury-prone, the French international is still highly regarded for his running ability and never stop attitude on the pitch, and, whatever summer clear-out is planned for Stamford Bridge, they do not want him to be part of it.
Pochettino wanted to sign Kanté when he was manager at PSG, and there is a belief that his arrival, and the stability that he promises, will bring this saga to a happy end as far as Chelsea fans are concerned.
