Chelsea are ready to make an improved offer to sign young Everton star Antony Gordon.
They have already had an opening bid of £40 million for the 21-year old rejected out of hand by the Merseyside club, who do not want to let one of the brightest stars to have emerged from their academy system leave the club.
However, with the player himself indicating his desire to move to Stamford Bridge, there is growing confidence that they can secure the deal if the right package is presented to Everton.
Gordon was offered a new contract by Everton earlier this summer, but he has refused to commit himself to a renewal at this stage, and that may yet force their hand in order to capitalise on hs valuation, especially if Chelsea are able to sweeten the deal further by offering a few fringe players in exchange, with Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi among the names linked,
