Rüdiger puts the ball back in Chelsea’s court

Antonio Rüdiger has put the ball firmly back in Chelsea’s court by insisting that it is down to them whether he stays or leaves the club in the summer.

His current deal expires at the end of the season, and with him now able to negotiate with foreign clubs, he is already sitting on offers from Real Madrid and PSG.

He has turned down several new  deals to remain at Stamford Bridge, and ahs now indicated that he expects at least £225,000 if the club want to keep him in West London.

The German is currently one of the lowest paid players in the senior squad, so that would represent a considerable boost over what he currently earns.

Now the onus is on the club. Do they value Rüdiger enough that they are willing to stretch their budget to accommodate him, or will they allow arguably their best defender to walk away for free?
