Scottish full-back Kieran Tierney has agreed a new five-year deal with Arsenal.

The new contract though will not be signed until Scotland’s involvement in the Euros is over. Tierney, having recovered from the injury that ruled him out of his country’s game against the Czech Republic in Group D, returned to play a full part in his country’s impressive draw with England at Wembley on Thursday night.

Under the new deal, Tierney will receive a sizeable pay increase to about £110,000 a week.

The 24-year old joined the Gunners from Celtic two years ago, and despite several injury issues, has established himself as a fans’ favourite, and an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. He has made 62 appearances so far, scoring three goals and nine assists.

He is also being tipped as a future club captain and is expected to assume more of a leadership role next season with a  number of senior figures departing the club.
