Many were surprised when it was announced that Olivier Giroud had signed a new deal with Chelsea.
On Friday, it was announced that both Giroud and Thiago Silva had agreed one-year contract extensions.
Whilst this was expected in the case of the Brazilian, it was widely assumed that Giroud would be leaving the club this summer because of a lack of game time.
The Frenchman made a significant contribution to Chelsea Champions’ League success, scoring a brilliant bicycle kick in their last-16 win over Atlético Madrid. However, he did not come on in the final against Manchester City, and made just three Premier League starts under Thomas Tuchel.
‘All though is not all that it seems, with the player’s representatives issuing a statement indicating that in the event of any offers, Chelsea are still prepared to let him go.
The World Cup winner has ben linked with moves to West Ham, AC Milan, and the MLS.
