Manchester United are set to revive their interest in signing Atlético Madrid right-back Kieron Trippier, who has just been included in Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for the Euros.

The 30-year old has just had a successful season in Spain, winning the league title with Atletico, although he missed ten weeks of reh season whilst serving out his ban for breaches oi Football Association betting rules.

However, he is out of contract in a year’s time and is keen on a  return to England on a permanent basis.

Born in Bury, Trippier began his career in the Manchester City academy, but never played a senior game for them before going on loan to Barnsley and then Burnley, eventually joining the Lancashire club on a full-time basis.

A move to United would suit the player because his family still live in the area and they are all fans of the club. United want to add competition at right-back because although Aaron Wan-Bissaka is acknowledged to be a good defender, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is less happy with his contribution in the attacking third of the pitch.
