Manchester City are confident they can complete the signing of Erling Haaland this summer.
The Premier League leaders are in the market for a marque new striker after telling record goal scorer Sergio Agüero that his contract at the Emirates will not be renewed.
And the 20-year-old Norwegian is top of their wish list having scored 49 goals in as many games for Borussia Dortmund since joining them last January.
With Agüero frequently absent due to a combination of illness and injury, and Gabriel Jesus not always trusted by Pep Guardiola, City have often played without a recognised striker this season. However, they recognise that is not a sustainable proposition for a club that wants to challenge for trophies on all fronts.
Haaland will not come cheap and they may have to pay a British record in excess of £100 for him, but they are probably the one Premier League club that can afford to pay such a fee.
