Serie A side Sampdoria have agreed a deal with Southampton for their striker Manolo Gabbiadini who is set to re-join the club he played for between 2013 and 2015.
Gabbiadini joined Southampton from Napoli in January 2017 for a fee reported to be around £15 million, but despite getting off to a good start with the club, becoming the first Saints player to score in his first full matches, injuries and a loss of form saw him fall out of favour at St. Mary’s.
Despite scoring 12 goals in 60 appearances for the club, he has only featured once for new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, as a late substitute in the Austrian’s opening match in the dug-out against Cardiff City.
The deal with Sampdoria will see Gabbiadini move initially on loan for the rest of the season, reports Sky Sports with an obligation for the club to buy the Italian international at the end of the season for €12m (£10.75m). In addition, the South Coast club are entitled to incentive payments if Gabbiadini hits agreed scoring targets this season.
