Steven Davis rejoins Rangers

Former captain Steven Davis has re-joined Rangers on a six month loan deal until the end of the season.

Currently playing for Southampton, for whom he has made 226 appearances, Davis finds himself out of favour at St. Mary’s, despite being the club captain, and has failed to make the first-team until new boss Ralph Hasenhüttl and his predecessor Mark Hughes. Instead he has chosen to re-join a club where he won three SPL titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups in a five year spell at Ibrox.

Confirming the deal, Rangers manager Steven Gerard said “Steven is yet another fantastic addition to our squad, we are delighted to welcome him back to the club”.

Davis signed on the same day as it was confirmed that Jermaine Defoe has also joined the Scottish club on loan, on an 18-month deal from Bournemouth which contains various release clauses.

Rangers are due to fly out to Tenerife on Monday for a six-day warm weather training camp.
