Arsenal target Everton midfielder

Arsenal are ready to open talks with Everton about signing their midfielder Amadou Onana.

The Gunners have identified defensive midfield as an area in their squad that needs strengthening this summer, and are prepared to sell Thomas Partey, who has had his fair share of injuriws in recent seasons to make way.

Partey is now over 30, which does not fit the age profile of the squad under Mikel Arteta.

Onana is eight years younger, and is Premier League proven.

Since joining Everton from Lille two years ago, he has appeared in 63 of their 76 league fixtures.

Onana is currently with the Belgium squad at the Euros, and played the entire match as they opened with a surprise defeat to Slovakia.

Everton are struggling to meet the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability targets – again – and might be willing to accept any bid that comes close to matching their valuation of the player.
