Chelsea considering move for former player

Chelsea’s search for a new striker has seen them consider a move for a player who came through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Dominic Solanke began playing with Chelsea’s under eight team, and would help them win the FA Youth Cup, but never made a senior appearance for the club.

Instead he joined Liverpool, but also struggled to make a breakthrough with them, and it was only when he joined Bournemouth in January 2019 that his career really began to take off.

He has since gone on to score 77 goals in 218 appearances fotr them, and his 19 Premier League goals saw him tied for fourth in the race for the Golden Boot.

The 26 year old is under contract until 2027, but his contract does have a release clause of ₤65 million which allows him to join certain clubs, Chelsea being one of them, as well as any other of the Premier League’s “Bix Six.”
