Bayern considering Zinchenko move

Vincent Kompany, who has just been appointed Bayern Munich manager, is considering making Oleksandr Zinchenko one of his first signings.

The pair were formerly team-mates at Manchester City.

Zinchenko joined Arsenal two years ago, and enjoyed a successful first season in his inverted left-back role, which saw him move into midfield with some success.

However, his second campaign was less effective. Opposition teams began to understand how to counter his threat, whilst his defensive shortcomings were exposed on a number of occasions.

By his own admission, his form dropped, and he ended the season with Takehiro Tomiyasu preferred ahead of him, and even Jakub Kiwior on occasion.

The Gunners are thought to have identified left-back as one of the areas to strengthen in the forthcoming transfer window, whilst the fit again Jurrien Timber is also a candidate to fill the position next season.

Bayern may also need a left-back as uncertainty continues over the future of Alphonso Davies at the Bundesliga club.
