Maresca identifies Chelsea transfer priorities

Although the appointment of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea’s new manager has yet to be confirmed, there are suggestions that he may already have had input into the club’s summer transfer business.

And that has led to three priority positions identified, where he believes that the current squad he is inheriting needs to be strengthened – goalkeeper, left back, and striker.

Inevitably, the focus will be on the striker position, with Mauricio Pochettino’s spell in charge of the club undermined by his team’s inability to put the ball in the net regularly.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is the desired man to fill the role, but his ₤130 million price tag may may that he is out of their financial reach, given Chelsea’s need to comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

Instead they may switch their attention to Benjamin Seško of RB Leipzig, who has also been linked with Arsenal, although the German club are trying to persuade him to sign a new contract.
