Chelsea in Maresca talks

Chelsea are in talks with Enzo Maresco about their vacant manager job.

They are succeeding a successor to Mauricio Pochettino who left his position after the season ended.

Kieron McKenna has dropped out of the race, preferring to stay with Ipswich, and whilst Roberto di Zerbi and Thomas Frank are still candidates, Maresca appears to the choice of most of the Chelsea hierarchy.

Maresca, who was a former assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, guided Leicester City to promotion back from the Championship at the first time of asking.

Should they press ahead with the appointment, then Leicester will be looking for compensation of anywhere between ₤8 million and ₤10 million for the 44 year old Italian.

He will become the latest manager appointed since the Toddwater- Clearwater Capital Consortium assumed control of the club two years ago, and he will hope to be given more time in the job since his predecessors.
