Hall to make Newcastle move permanent

Chelsea full-back Lewis Hall’s move to Newcastle is set to be converted into a permanent deal,

The 19 year old joined the North-East club initially on loan last summer, and, although it was reported at the time there was an obligation to buy provided specific targets were met, these were never disclosed.

However, it has now transpired that it was based on Newcastle’s League position and predicated on them finishing above 15th in the table.

Their 4 – 0 defeat of Spurs at the weekend confirmed that the lowest they can end this season, even if they do not gain another point, is 14th, hence the Hall clause is triggered, with a fee of ₤28 million to be paid.

Although Hall has been used sparingly by Newcastle this season, manager Eddie Howe has indicated he can expect a fuller role in the future.
