Chelsea historic transfer payments could be revealed in court

A legal case dispute in the UK could see the details behind some of Chelsea’s historic transfer dealings revealed in court.

It results from the legal proceedings between former director Marina Granovskaia and football agent Saif Rubie, who she has accused of demanding payments in addition to what had previously been agreed between the pair.

And this has the potential to cause not only intense embarrassment to the current owners, Todd Boehly and Clearwater Capital, but could also have far reaching consequences.

They have already admitted to illegal payments made to agents and players’ representatives which they uncovered during the Roman Abramovich era, and more unwelcome revelations may be added to any future charges which the Premier League may be preparing.

The fact that Boehly and Rubie have been pictured together at Stamford Bridge is not a good look, and undermines attempts to distance the new ownership from the misdemeanours of the past.
