Barcelona rule out Arteta move

Barcelona have ruled out any move for Mikel Arteta this summer as unrealistic.

The Catalans are looking for a new manager this summer after Xavi decided to step down from what he has since described as an impossible job.

That has led to intense speculation as to who might replace him, with rumours in Spain that Arteta was ready to resign his post at the Emirates and re-join the club with whom he was an academy player.

However, that has always been denied by Gunners sources, and now Barcelona Sporting Director Deco has made it clear that Arteta will not be taking the job, and that the search for a new manager is proving difficult.

Given the authority that Arteta commands with the Gunners, and his commitment to the project that he is overseeing at the Emirates, it was also difficult to see why the Spaniard would choose to give that up for the intense pressure that comes with being Barcelona boss.
