Chelsea linked with Spanish goalkeeper

Chelsea have been linked with a summer move for Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who currently plays in La Liga with Valencia.

The Stamford Bridge side are widely expected to upgrade their goalkeeping options inn the summer. Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to leave the club when his loan spell at Real Madrid comes to an end, and Robert Sanchez could also be allowed to move on, despite only being signed last summer.

However, Valencia may need to lower their price expectations. The 23 year old currently has a ₤90 million release clause in his contract, and that it not something justified by his ability.

In addition, with FFP now a serious concern, Chelsea will need to be more careful with their money this summer, and cannot afford to pay over the odds for a player who, in goalkeeping terms is still relatively young and may take time to adapt to the Premier League.
