Sterling faces Chelsea axe

Raheem Sterling could be axed by Chelsea this summer, as he struggles to justify the ₤50 million that was paid for him.

Currently only five players in the Premier League earn more than him a week, but it is getting increasingly difficult to see what he brings to the team.

Selling him at least gets his wages off their books.

17 goals in 71 appearances is regarded as a meagre return on their investment by the Chelsea board, and he was dropped to the bench for their league game against Brentford at the weekend, only coming on as a late substitute.

At the start of the season, Sterling’s form was good enough that he was entertaining hopes of an England recall. However, his chances of now being picked for the Euros appear to be non-existent.
