Gallagher wants wage increase to stay

Speculation about whether Conor Gallagher will still be a Chelsea player next season continues.

It was rumoured that he might leave the club during the January transfer window, but he stayed, and has since helped them put together a winning run, which included scoring two goals in the win over Crystal Palace.

Despite that, links to other clubs continue, with Tottenham leading the race for his signature.

With the England international having just one year left on his contract at the end of this season, Chelsea are still hoping they can persuade the academy graduate to sign a contract extension.

That, though, is likely to come at a price, with Gallagher looking for a boost in his salary to stay.

He is seeking parity with Moises Caicedo who earns approximately ₤150k a week.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared to match his expectations. They have shown before that they are willing o be ruthless when it comes to players who want to break their salary structure.
