Chelsea tracking left-backs

Although FFP concerns meant that Chelsea did not venture into the transfer market during January, left-back remains one of their priority positions.

To that end, they have scouted a number of players, including Alphonso Davies at Bayern Munich and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

Davies is likely to prove by far the less attainable of the two. Whilst Bayern are trying to tie him down to a new deal, he has indicated that he would like to join Real Madrid, whilst Manchester City and Liverpool are both tracking developments.

And the Canadian’s salary demands are likely to prove considerable.

That leaves Kerkez, who is still just 20, and signed for Bournemouth last year from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for a fee of around ₤18 million. A former product of the AC Milan youth set-up, he is already a full Hungarian international, and has been a regular since moving to the South Coast side.
