Gunners likely to trigger Jorginho clause

Arsenal are likely to try and trigger a clause in Jorginho’s contract which will see him extend his stay at the Emirates by a further year.

He was signed from Chelsea in January 2023 on an initial 18 month deal, but with the option to extend, which can be triggered any time between now and the end of the season.

Although not always  a regular starter, when called upon he usually does well, and, by almost universal acclamation, was Man of the Match in the recent win over Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the Italian international, and values the experience that he adds in the dressing room as well as what he contributes on the pitch.

Jorginho’s stock has risen as Thomas Partey’s has fallen, with the Gunners increasingly frustrated about nis inability to stay fit. That could well see him sold at the end of the season.
