Arsenal are considering moving for Roma left-back Leonardo Spinazzola before the January transfer window closes.
Left-back has been identified as a priority position by Mikel Arteta, with Oleksandr Zinchenko injury prone, and not always the best defensively, and his natural replacement, Takehiro Tomiyssu (who has had his own fair share of injuries) away with Japan at the Asia Cup.
Jakob Kiwor can play there, but the Pole seldom looks comfortable in the role.
Spinazzola, who is 30 at the end of this season, is out of contract
in the summer, so he would be available for a relatively small transfer fee, which, given the financial constraints the Gunners are currently operating under, makes him an attractive proposition.
He is also very experienced, having played previously for Juventus, and having been capped 24 times by the senior Italian national side. He was a member of the squad that won the 2020 European Championships.
