Arsenal are now being linked with French teenage striker Jean-Matteo Bahoya, who pls for Ligue II side Angers.
The 18 year old has scored five goals and provided two assists this season so far, and, although he is not the big name signing some fans were hoping for this January, there are valid reasons why the club may be tracking his situation.
He is versatile enough to play either out wide on the wing or in an attacking midfield position, and his ceiling appears high. In addition, he could be acquired without a significant outlay of money, which, given the financial constraints the Gunners are facing in the current window, is an added bonus.
It would not be the first time that Arsenal have recruited from Ligue 2 either, with Matteo Guendouzi a recent example. The fact that he did not succeed at the Emirates was down to his temperament not his talent.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
