Kiwior going nowhere in January

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior will not be allowed to leave on loan in January.

The Polish international was signed from Spezia in January, but has struggled to establish himself at the Emirates, and remains a fringe player. And, when he has been used, it is often as a left-back, rather than in his preferred position of centre-back.

That has led to speculation  that he could be set for a return to Serie A, with a number of Italian clubs, headed by AC Milan, interested in taking him on loan for the rest of the season.

However, all the indications coming out of the Emirates are that Arsenal consider him a key member of their squad, and are not contemplating letting him leave.

Like many clubs, Arsenal have had to cope with their fair share of injuries this season, and although William Saliba and Gabriel are there established pairing in the centre of defence, they have little cover for them. Takehiro Tomiyasu is injured again, and will miss most of January away with Japan in the Asian Cup, whilst Jurrien Timber is a long-term injury.
