Chelsea set to sign another Brazilian wonderkid

Chelsea appear to have won the race to sign another Brazilian wonderkid in the form of Gabriel Moscardo, the 18 year old midfielder who currently plays for Corinthians.

He is set to become the latest in an increasingly long line of talented young Brazilians to head to Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of Deivid Washington, Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel who have made the same journey in the past 12 months.

The fee is reported to be ₤22 million, which, if true, would be the highest transfer sum the Brazilian club has ever received for one player, although this does include incentives and bonuses as well.

It will be some time before Moscardo is ready to play in the Premier League, and, although a loan move may be in order for him once his arrival is concerned, the example of Santos gives pause for thought.

He was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest at the start of the season, but he may be recalled in January, having featured for just 96 minutes in two appearances for the East Midlands club so far.
