David Raya’s move from Brentford to Arsenal is set to become permanent after Arsenal agreed to meet his buy-out clause in January.
The Spanish goalkeeper joined the Gunners on a season long loan in August, although there was an option always to make that permanent at the end of the season, something they have decided to accelerate.
He has controversially replaced the popular Aaron Ramsdale as the Gunners number one, much to the consternation of many fans and critics, who are that Raya has not been an upgrade, and that he is prone to making too many mistakes.
Despite that, Mikel Arteta appears to prize the Spaniard because of his ability to play out from the back and his superior distribution, and seems determined to stick by his man,
The news also means that Ramsdale’s days at the Emirates could now be numbered, knowing that his England prospects will be damaged the longer he remains a number two.
