Bayern Munich are considering a future move for Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, with Thomas Tuchel prizing him for his versatility.
Since signing from Bologna, the Japanese international has played across the backline, featuring in both full-back roles as well as a centre-half. There have also been suggestions he could be deployed in a defensive midfield role as well.
Mikel Arteta insists that he is one of the best defenders at the club, with his ability to read the game and snuff out danger particularly noteworthy. He was recently voted the club’s Player of the Month for October.
Tomiyasu is under contract at the Emirates until 2025, although the club does have the option to extend that by a further year.
In any event, should Bayern bid for him, the Gunners will be expecting a substantial premium over the ₤16 million they originally paid the Italian club for him.
