Chelsea and Arsenal have suffered a setback to their hopes of signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January window.
Even though he has not played so far this season, that has not stopped him attracting interest from other clubs, who want to sign a player who had scored 68 goals in 124 appearances for Brentford before his ban.
The 27 year old has been serving an eight month suspension from the game because of his involvement in illegal gambling activity, but should be back on the pitch in the New Year, with January 17th the earliest he can make his reappearance.
However, they could now be disappointed with news that he may be about to sign anew deal with the West London club.
Toney is reported to have been impressed with how Brentford have stuck with him during his ban, and are set to repay their loyalty by committing his immediate future to them.
