Chelsea have emerged as the favourite to sign Florian Wirtz, whose performances for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga have attracted the attention of a number of clubs in Europe.
They include Manchester City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.
The 20 year old currently plays for Bayer Leverküsen, now managed by Xabi Alonso, who currently lead the Bundesliga, ahead of Bayern.
Despite that Wirtz, who is valued at ₤80 million, is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side continue to struggle when it comes to the final third of the pitch, and Wirtz could certainly help them in that respect, with his ability to operate as a central attacking midfielder, and he can also play as a winger. In addition, he scores his fair share of goals, and, in a side lacking in firepower, that represents a valuable addition to the squad.
And his age profile means that he is also a fit for the project currently underway at Stamford Bridge.
