Chelsea full-back and captain Reece James is once again being linked with a move to Real Madrid.
The Spanish club are looking for a long-term successor to Dani Carvajal on the right side of their defence, and James is one of their top options.
That is despite the fitness issues that have plagued him over the past few seasons.
He returned to action for the League Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, and impressed in his side’s two goal victory. Now his immediate priority is to put a run of games together and to force his way back into the England squad.
James only signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge last September and is under contract at the club until 2028, meaning that it would take a substantial fee for them to agree to sell him.
However, Real Madrid spurred on by their experience with Jude Bellingham, believe that English players can have a big impact in La Liga.
