Arsenal’s hopes of finding a winger able to provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka have been dealt a blow after their number one target for January was stretchered off at the weekend.
Pedro Neto’s performances for Wolves this season have helped make him top of the North London’s shopping list in January, but they may need to re-evaluate their options after he was carried off in the game against Newcastle at Molineux.
It was later confirmed that he had picked up a hamstring injury, with his manager Gary O’Neill hoping that it was not too serious.
However, given the agony that the player was clearly in as he left the field, that may be an optimistic prognosis, and several months on the sidelines could scupper any January move.
The Portuguese international is currently under contract until 2027 and is valued at around £30 million.
