Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is the latest player linked with a move to Chelsea, although Manchester City are also reported to be interested in the 24 year old.
Bastoni began his career as a full-back before moving inside, and has since become one of the finest central defenders in Europe.
He was an integral member of the team that won the Serie A title in 2021, and reached the final of the Champions League last season.
With Italy, he has been capped 21 times for their senior side.
He is under long-term contract at the San Siro, so prizing him away from Italy will not be cheap.
However, although there are plenty of defensive options already at Chelsea, they remain heavily reliant on Thiago Silva, who is the oldest active player in the Premier League this season, and seems set to return to Brazil next year.
Bastoni could be the man to fill the hole in central defence he will leave.
