Ivan Toney has expressed his preference is to join Arsenal if he is to leave Brentford.
The striker is currently serving his 8 month suspension from the game after he was found guilty of numerous betting offences, although he has been allowed to resume training with his club again.
Before his ban he had scored 20 goals in 25 games, and earned a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
However, he will not come cheap with Brentford likely to demand at least £60 million for the 27 year old.
The Gunners will be wary of getting into a bidding war for Toney, and the news linking him to Chelsea will put them on notice, aware of what has happened previously with the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Raphinha.
There is also the issue of his off-field activities to consider, with Mikel Arteta in the past showing his clear preference for players who do not come with unnecessary extra baggage.
