Despite having Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella at their disposal, and having allowed Lewis Hall to leave on loan to Newcastle, Chelsea are still in the market for a left-back.
And reports in Italy suggest that the two names on their shopping list for January are Federico Dimarco, currently playing for Inter Milan, and Theo Hernandez, who plays for their neighbours AC.
Dimarco, who is 25, is the current left back for the Italian national side, and is a product of the youth system at Inter.
Hernandez, who has three times been named in the Serie team of the year, is a French international and was part of the team that finished runner-up in the World Cup final against Argentina last year.
His older brother Lucas currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, and is also a defender, as was their father Jean-François, who played for a variety of clubs, including Marseille and Atlético Madrid.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
