Juventus lining-up Partey for Pogba

Juventus are considering moving for Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey if Paul Pogba is given a lengthy ban from football.

The French international has been provisionally suspended after traces of testosterone were found in his system after his club’s first league game of the season against Udinese.

The results of his B sample are awaited, but, if found guilty of a doping offence, could face a lengthy ban from football, potentially as long as four years.

In that case, Juventus would terminate his contract and need a replacement, with Partey very much on the short list.

They were linked with the Ghanaian midfielder during the last transfer window, but, in the end, remained at the Emirates.

However, with him injured again, the Gunners are increasingly frustrated at his inability to stay fit flor any length of time, and may be prepared to sell him whilst he still has some value.

One complication is that January coincides with the African Nations Cup when he can expect to be called-up by his country.
