Chelsea have agreed to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
West Ham also wanted to sign the City academy graduate, but he has opted to join their Wwest London rivals, as Mauricio Pochettino’s wish to bring in another attacking player before the window closes is granted.
A fee of around £45 million has been agreed.
Many will be surprised that City are willing to part with a player who had already shown glimpses this season that he could have a bright future at the Etihad.
But with such congestion for places under Pep Guardiola, his first team opportunities this campaign may have been limited, and the decision has been made to cash in on him now.
To date Palmer ahs made 19 Premier League appearances, and was also a member of the England under-21 squad that won the European Championships this summer.
