Chelsea are considering a late move to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney before the transfer window closes.
That is despite the fact that the England international is not eligible to play before next January, and cannot even return to training until next month as her serves out his FA ban for illegal gambling activity.
He will not come cheap with Brentford looking for up to £80 million who they had originally bought from Peterborough United for a fee of just £5 million three years ago.
Since then he has established himself as one of the most reliable forwards in the Premier League, scoring 68 goals in 124 appearances for the West London club.
In March of this year he made his England debut as a substitute against Ukraine in a 2024 Euro Qualifier, but his international future, like his domestic career, has been put on hiatus whilst he serves out his ban.
