Arsenal have agreed a deal with French side AS Monaco to sell them striker Folarin Balogun for £38 million plus various add-ons and bonuses.
The move is thought to include a sell-on clause.
It brings to an end one of the long sagas of the current transfer window, with the American international in demand following his season on loan last season with another Ligue 1 side, Reims, for whom he scored 21 goals in 37 appearances.
At one stage he had been linked with Inter Milan, Chelsea, and even bitter rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, although it is hard to imagine the Gunners sanctioning a move to join them.
Balogun still had two years left on his current contract at the Emirates, but, when he made it clear that he was not prepared to go out on loan again, and wanted regular first-team football, the club decided it was best to sell him and recoup some of the money they have spent on inconing business this summer.
