Roma may be on the verge of ending the current deadlock over the future of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian is back at Stamford Bridge after his loan spell with Inter Milan ended, without the Italian side being able to make the transfer permanent. And a proposed move to Juventus collapsed aftr a backlash from the club’s fans.
Lukaku is currently training with Chelsea’s under 21 side and has not even spoken to new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who, earlier this week, acknowledged that there was fault on both sides when it comes to his current situation.
Chelsea are determined that he should not leave on loan again, but now Roma, managed by former Blues boss, may be ready to end the logjam over his future, with the Serie A club’s general manager Lina Souloukou, having flown to London for talks.
With just a week left before the transfer window shuts, time is now of the essence if a deal is to be done.
