Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares is now being linked with a switch to Aston Villa.
Only last week, the 23 year old seemed destined to follow former team-mate Matt Turner out of the door by joining Nottingham Forest, but that deal has subsequently stalled.
Although the reasons for that remain unclear, it may be no coincidence that reports have circulated indicating that the East Midlands club has been having problems paying players on time.
Instead, Villa may now be his next destination, because they need cover in the left-back position. The future of Spanish international Lucas Digne at the club is uncertain, whilst Alex Moreno is injured.
They have targeted a deal for Sevilla’s Marcos Aruna, but that is not an easy one to get over the line, and now Tavares has emerged as a more obtainable alternative.
The Portuguese under-21 international is one of a batch of players that Arsenal want to get off their books before the transfer window closes.
