Arsenal want to sign club captain Martin Ødegaard to a new long-term contract at the club.
The 24 year old, who is also captain of his country Norway, is under contract at the Emirates until 2025, but they now want to extend his stay in North London on substantially enhanced terms.
Initially Ødegaard had joined the Gunners on a six month loan from Real Madrid in January 2021, until the arrangement was made permanent later that summer.
And now the North London club are keen to ensure that the best years of his career are spent wearing Arsenal colours.
The Gunners have already signed Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba to new contracts with the club, and getting Ødegaard to commit to a fresh deal as well is part of the same strategy.
He was their joint top scorer last season with 15 goals, all of which came in the Premier League.
