Chelsea are ready to turn their attention to Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
That is despite breaking the British transfer record again to sign their main summer transfer target, Moises Caicedo.
They had submitted a number of offers for the Ecuadorean international, only to be gazumped by Liverpool, who made a British record bid of £111 million for him. However, that only galvanised the Stamford Bridge club to make a record £115 million offer for the 21 year old.
Nor is their transfer business finished yet, with Lavia now in their sights.
Ironically, the Merseyside club have been pursuing their own deal for Lavia, before pivoting to Caicedo.
Lavia began his youth career with Anderlecht, before signing for Manchester City as a 16 year old.
He made two appearances for them in cup competitions before joining Southampton a year ago on a five year deal.
Although he could not prevent them being relegated last season, he was one of the stand-out performers for the South Coast side.
Earlier this year he received his first call-up to the Belgian national side, subsequently making his debut in a friendly against Germany.
