Lukaku swap deal hits stumbling block

A swap deal which would see Romelu Lukaku move to Juventus and Serbian striker Dusan Vlahović has hit a stumbling block.

That is because the Italian club are demanding an extra £35 million to make the deal happen.

Lukaku has already agreed personal terms with Juventus.

Instead the Turin club are proposing a season long loan with an option to buy, something that Chalsea are not ready to accept in the current circumstances.

It now depends on Mauricio Pochettino’s assessment of how Vlahović might enhance his squad for the season ahead as to their willingness to negotiate further.

The Belgian remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2026, but with no future for him at the club, they are desperately looking for any club prepared to take him, so they can finally get him off their books.

A proposed deal back to former club Inter Milan has already fallen through this summer.
