Chelsea eye move for Brighton goalkeeper

Chelsea want to sign Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

They are looking to provide competition in their squad to Kepa Arrizabalaga, having allowed Édouard Mendy to leave for Saudi Arabia earlier in the summer.

Sanchez has seen himself relegated to back-up under Roberto di Zerbi, with Jason Steele his preferred choice to keep goal.

They have also recently brought in Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen for a fee of £17 million so they are covered in the position, and the fact that the new arrival has been handed Sanchez’s number one jersey is a clear indication that they are  are willing to let him go.

Although Sanchez has been capped by Spain, the fact that he had been with Brighton since the age of 15 meant that he was counted as part of their home grown Spain.

Chelsea’s current goalkeeping coach, Ben Roberts knows Sanche well from when they were both at Brighton together.
