Chelsea are trying to make an ambitious move to sign PSG and France striker Kylian Mbappé this summer.
His future at the Paris club remains in considerable doubt. He has one year left on his current deal and has already told PSG that he does not intend to sign a new one. He has indicated that he is willing to see out his contract in Paris, but PSG want to sell him now rather than see him walk away for free in a year’s time.
Saudi club Al-Hilal have made a world record bid to sign him, but the Frenchman does not want to join the Middle Eastern exodus this summer.
Real Madrid have long wanted to sign him, and came close to doing so a year ago, but it does not seem likely they will match PSG’s valuation of the player.
An that has opened the door for Chelsea who are ready to offer cash pus players in exchange for Mbappé.
Whether the 24 year old will be willing to join a club who cannot offer him European football of any kind next season is another issue entirely.
